Making it to the top: Jesus' resurrection was the focus of the climb of Mt Ngungun, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland

ON Holy Saturday morning (April 3), when most young adults were yet to see the light of day, members of Brisbane South deanery were watching the sun rise from the peak of Mt Ngungun, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Eloise Giraud said that, heading to the foot of the mountain, north of Brisbane, at 3am, members of the group were filled with excitement.

"No one was too tired," she said.

They'd taken three cars, one motorbike and enough for a "rewarding barbecue breakfast" after the climb.

Praying together when they reached the top, the group focused on Jesus' resurrection - most joining in the climb for the first time.

The Mt Ngungun Holy Saturday climb is a tradition for the youth and young adults of Sunnybank parish but is open to those from the wider deanery and archdiocese.
