Leading educator mourned

Published: 28 February 2010

BRISBANE Catholic Education is in mourning for one of its leaders - Neil Bloxsidge.

Mr Bloxsidge, director of BCE's School Service Centre South, died of a suspected heart attack on Monday night.

He was aged 53.

In a message to BCE staff on Tuesday morning, executive director David Hutton said it appeared Mr Bloxsidge had suffered a heart attack while playing touch football and died soon after in Tweed Heads Hospital.

"This is a great shock to all of us," Mr Hutton said.

"Neil is a long-serving and highly respected staff member of Brisbane Catholic Education."

Mr Hutton offered sympathy and prayers to Mr Bloxsidge's wife Janet, who is a teacher at St Mary's College, Ipswich; his son Danny, a teacher at St Vincent's Primary School, Clear Island Waters; and his daughter Leah, who was returning from a teaching post in England.

Funeral arrangements were not confirmed at the time of going to press.
