As part of their religious education task during Lent, Year 4 students at St Joseph's Primary School, Nundah, reached out to the marginalised in their community.
They made a request to the school community to bring in articles that they could assemble into "refresher packs".
The items included toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, soap and other hygiene products.
The collection resulted in 93 packs being put together.
The two organisations the students identified were the St Vincent de Paul Society and the Community Living Association in Nundah.
The Community Living Association in Nundah oversees a wide range of programs developed to assist people with a "learning difficulty", or an intellectual disability and mental illness.
They also look out for young people at risk of early school-leaving or at risk of homelessness.
In addition, St Joseph's School community raised more than $1000 for Caritas through the "Chickytas" and through free-dress days and collections.
