Wary of aim to take God from 'equation'
Published: 7 March 2010
IN response to Gavan Duffy's questioning a Catholic Labor vote (CL 21/2/10), coming from Labor stock, I gave up voting Labor in state and federal elections when they succumbed to the pseudo socialist element and put abortion as part of their platform.
Now we cull about 90,000 future Australians each year.
We can only regress as a nation while we carry this stain.
Kim Beazley Snr rightly decried the use of the labour movement as a "spiritual spittoon."
Many conservatives now exhibit a secular humanist attitude or fear the media screams if religion enters the debate.
We cannot legislate to make people good, but a straight decriminalising, without an accompanying strong promotion of what is good and worth conserving - such as promoting respect for life and adoption alternatives in the case of abortion - tramples on proven ideals and publicly blurs the line between right and wrong.
A wise British historian who spent a lifetime researching the worldwide socialist network gave a prophetic précis of the agenda we face - "For the goal of world revolution is not Socialism or even Communism, it is not a change in the existing economic system, it is not the destruction of civilisation in a material sense; the revolution desired by the leaders is a moral and spiritual revolution, an anarchy of ideas by which all standards set up through nineteen (twenty) centuries shall be reversed, all honoured traditions trampled under foot, and above all the Christian ideal finally obliterated."
While not seeing a bear behind every bush, "socialisation by stealth" - in its softer secular humanist sheepskin - is the policy, atheism the background philosophy.
Few would subscribe to or even be aware of the end goal.
Gavan Duffy does well to challenge us.
Catholicism still has a critical mass, which cannot be ignored.
We have compassion and understanding, but we don't want babes put down or the other nihilistic negatives imposed on us via legislation, redefining proven standards, weakening the family unit and "taking the soul out of our nation" whilst leaving the outward structure of our existing institutions intact - subtly, but effectively, working towards the end goal of removing God from the equation.
We have been challenged.
Let's not leave it to "the few".
