NOT so long ago during the inquest into the disappearance of Daniel Morcombe The Catholic Leader published my letter in which I asked you all to join with me in praying that this would bring forth information and answers regarding this sad situation in order to provide some comfort and peace of mind for the Morcombe family.
As I listened to the words of the police officers announcing in a press conference that a man had been arrested and charged with Daniel’s murder, tears flowed freely with such a mix of emotions it was difficult to define just what I was feeling: thanksgiving, relief, a moment of happiness even, then fresh sadness as I contemplated all that was still ahead for this brave, steadfast and faith-filled family.
We now need to say “thank you” to our Loving Father for His response to our prayers, and ask Him to bless and thank the wonderfully dedicated team of detectives and police whose perseverance has produced such a great result.
However, as they have reminded us, there is still much work to be done – physically, to find where Daniel is, such an important task, one which has the potential to assist his family in obtaining some comfort, peace of mind and healing.
Although it’s hard to comprehend just how complete healing for this devastated family can be.
May we join together in asking our Loving Father to walk close beside the Morcombe family as they deal with all that is to come, and all that is being asked of them.
In all honesty, for me this next bit will be tough to do, and really mean it, but is what I now ask you to do too.
Please pray for the alleged perpetrator of this heinous crime.
We think with compassion also of his family and others who are also victims of his actions.
Daniel, you are in the loving arms of Jesus, a safe and happy haven for all eternity.
Rest in Peace, Joy and Love with He who loves beyond all measure.
