Defending marriage for good of all

RE the campaigns going on that seem to be doing their best to destroy what we hold so dear to our heart, our Sacrament of Marriage - it stresses us to see such a well-organised campaign, in all forms of the media.

It seems this movement is endeavouring to undermine the Holy Sacrament of Marriage so much, that it plainly terrifies us. Please help us and direct us.

We are only battlers from the suburbs and the truth is that we are no intellects, but we feel compelled to speak up. If we do not, we think the future will not be good for our kids and grandkids.

Somehow we, clergy and lay, need to take hold of the power of the Holy Spirit, given to all of us, in our Sacrament of Baptism, and be what we are all called to be, a light for the world.

If we have the audacity to simply live the life of a disciple, as Jesus calls all of us to live today, it will be the light of Christ that shines from the lamp stands of our hearts.

It is this light and this light only that draws all those who seek.

These ones that seek are those who are looking for this light and not ours. This is the light that transforms the world.

As in today's Gospel, Jesus is calling us to be the wise virgins. If we in our day have the courage to live as disciples of Jesus, we will receive the oil of salvation so our lamp will shine to the day of the coming of, what can seem to our eyes, the much delayed bridegroom.

We especially encourage our brothers, our holy men of the clergy. Please be encouraged then to lead us during this time.

All of us together are called to be the God's people, the Body of Christ on Earth, the Church.
