Agents of compassion

Published: 7 March 2010
By: Peter Bugden

LENT is a time when we are more conscious of the work of Caritas Australia, through the focus on the agency's annual Project Compassion appeal.

It is linked to the fact that we are encouraged to make giving and self-sacrifice a central part of our Lenten observance.

With this week's story of Caritas emergency workers being transferred from one tragedy in Haiti to another in Chile, we will need little other motivation to try to increase our giving to the agency if we can this year.

Those workers are the agents of the Church's compassion where it is most needed, and they deserve all the support we can give them.
